Wedding Bells, and Miscellany
Oct. 19th, 2001 04:13 pmI attended the wedding of a friend of my brothers today. It was a reasonably nice event. As both my brothers and this friend are in a local "reenactment" group, the wedding was held in renaissance costume (as was my brother's, last year). I went in the costume I still had from back then. It wasn't a bad affair, as weddings go, but the footwear with my costume was a bit of a pain--the shoes are essentially moccasins, meaning I could feel every bit of gravel under my feet. Ow. I'd rather have a thick rubber pad there, if you don't mind.
During the buffet that followed, it soon became evident the affair hadn't been the best planned event--nobody had thought to bring bowls, serving spoons, or ice. My father had brought a covered dish, with a spoon, and people kept stealing the spoon from it to use in other things. I was soon commandeered to navigate of the organizers to my K-Mart, where the co-workers exhibited a bit of surprise at my costume as we shopped for these necessities.
After that, I headed back to my apartment, spent about ten minutes changing back to street clothes--then dashed in to campus so as not to be late for my class, only to find it had been cancelled. Whee. After that, I made my way more slowly back to the apartment and vegged a bit, watching the most recent Enterprise episode, "Unexpected," which I'd forgotten to watch Wednesday night.
And that's my day...and now I'm quite worn out.
